MS Open Rec
Thursdays 6-8 PM and Fridays 7 to 9 PM
Stay for a bit, or the whole time.
Sign in with Ms. Cox, sign out if you leave before the end of the night.
Rules are simple: Treat each other and the room with respect. Use of cell phones is allowed as long as they are used respectfully. If there are complaints about inappropriate use, then they will no longer be allowed to be out and used during Open Rec.
PARTICIPANTS AGREE TO RESPECT PERSONAL PROPERTY
RESPECT PERSONAL SPACE (CONSENT IS KEY)
PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION ARE LIMITED TO NORMAL PUBLIC BEHAVIOR, HAND HOLDING, A HUG ETC....
Participants must stay in the Open Rec areas
Each participant will be asked to agree to a code of conduct.
Some Games have been banned from Open Rec.
No Cards Against Humanity,
no Spin the Bottle,
no Truth or Dare.
Some are just common sense, and some are a problem only because of the developmental age of the kids taking part. It is too difficult to keep some games at a G rating with the impulses of puberty driving them, so it is better to not allow the dare games at all rather than risk making peers uncomfortable with dares that push what they are comfortable with.
Rec is staffed by two adult YSB staff and one or more High School helpers.
The Rec Room, Craft area and lobby are monitored via video. An adult in in the "gym" area at all times.
We comfortably handle groups up to 20/30 with a typical student staff ratio of 12 to 1.
